Which comic book heroes would be hardcore republicans?

I don’t really think about the politics of the hero when I’m reading a book. When I read something and start thinking about them being hardcore right or left, I really think about what the writer is doing.

A great example is The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Green Arrow is pretty much as Liberal as they get. When I read it, I didn’t think “Wow Green Arrow is a crazy Anarchist.” I thought “Frank Miller is making a statement about Liberal people using Green Arrow.”

At the same time the characters are shaped by the writers. It’s pretty safe to say a lot of writers have shaped Green Arrow into a Liberal. Some tend to gloss over that fact and write good stories while still being true to him.

If you twist my arm I immediately think of Ultimate Captain America. I like and dislike reading him at the same time. I dislike how crazy he is sometimes and dislike him for the same reason I love Mainstream Captain America. I love that Main Marvel U Captain America doesn’t choose sides. He does what’s best for the people on a whole.
