My Friends and I had a question that was always passed around. “If you had the opportunity to travel to the future, you found out it was incredibly shitty, and had one phone call back in time to someone to stop you from traveling to the future… Who would you call?”
Many made choices off of who they thought would believe them. My response was simply: Me.
Other friends would argue, how would you believe yourself? My response was “That’s easy, I have a code word for this. It’s something only I know. If I ever get a random phone call and a single word is spoken, I know to avoid anyone who wants to take me into the future.”
This page totally reminded me of that.

This is page 101 of How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu (Sorry. Spoilers, sweetie). It could be my favorite page in any book ever.
I’m never going to write a book. I don’t mean that in a bad way, it’s just not the kind of writing I’d do. I can write the shit out of marketing copy. But I’m not a storyteller, I don’t want to write a book or a comic or a movie. And I’m OK with that.
But if I DID write a book, I’d have a copy of this page prominently displayed at my work station. Because nothing is more motivating or awesome than your future self telling you, “You will write a book. It will be great. Here’s a copy.”
